A wipe-clean activity book from Usborne, designed for children just being introduced to letter sounds. Book 1 covers the first eight sounds in the standard synthetic phonics order — s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d — with tracing, matching and drawing activities children can do with a dry-wipe pen and repeat as often as they like.

Because the pages wipe clean, the book works well for the trial-and-error phase of learning to write letters — children can practise, smudge, and try again without filling the book on the first attempt. The activities also reinforce the letter sound at every step, not just the letter name.
